Wish You a Merry Christmas
It is the lead-up to this festival that symbolize positivity in life.
I wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year,
A pantryful of good roast-beef,
And barrels full of beer.
I am not very religious, but what I do like about the month of December is the fact that it marks the end of one year and the beginning of another. Every year, be it good or bad, needs to be given a proper send-off. Likewise, every new year deserves a grand welcome.
To me, it is this positivity that symbolizes life. As such, I eagerly wait for the end of the year, or rather, the beginning of the festive season. In fact, the anticipation of the traditional Christmas Markets has become a ritual over the years.
When you live in Europe, there is no way the annual Christmas Markets aren’t a part of your life. I have visited quite a few of them this year, and will perhaps be visiting a few more.
Besides, 2023 has been a special year in more ways than one. This year, I traveled all the way up to Rovaniemi and was fortunate to have a few minutes with Santa Claus. Considering I was visiting in the deemed off-season, the waiting time was limited. I also ended up spending more time with the white-bearded man, in what was a casual affair, where he pointed out that he was wearing only a single pair of socks on that day.

Have a great time reading… and celebrating. I wish all readers and the Medium family a Merry Christmas.
