Why delete it?

I have made it a habit of mailing a copy of the final draft submitted to a publication. This helps save time, and there is always a backup.

In case, I experience what you have narrated, I pull it back and publish what I originally wrote.

Besides, it is important to choose publications wisely. Some that may have 100,000 followers can't guarantee even 100 views. They feed on a writer's desperation.
