When you travel on a frequent basis, you give yourself the opportunity to understand history at the source.

Traveling has been one of the passions of my life ever since I can remember, and this has helped me to discover and learn about aspects I was hitherto unaware of.

Every traveler is an amateur photographer, and I am no different. In two decades of traveling, my camera has captured old buildings, mile markers, monuments and museums. However, it is only in the last few years that I have an attempt to delve deep and understand the details of these camera captures. Maybe it has got to with age.

A younger self was possibly more excited about visiting a particular place, in a country other than my own, and capture it on camera. As I grew older, I have developed a desire to explore each area I visit, look for intricate details and understand the historical context. This habit has helped bolster the existing knowledge base to a considerable extent.

In the last few years, I have developed a certain pattern when it comes to travel. When I want to have a relaxing journey with some history thrown in, I plan a somewhat elaborate exercise. It involves…
