I am aware of Boccaccio's Decameron, but it is an entire collection. Shakespeare was definitely inspired by Bocca but I am sure Romeo/Juliet is not among them.

As regards the chronology, Boccaccio wrote 200 years before Luigi and Shakespeare.

From what I discovered, La Giulietta is Luigi's personal story.
