I Actually Prefer Going Dutch

I have seldom hesitated in admitting that, in terms of travel experience, the Netherlands is one of my favorite countries. It is small and compact, and it ensures smooth internal travel in every way possible. I have visited the Netherlands for work occasionally, and I have also been on vacation to this beautiful country a number of times.

In fact, in 2023, I made two elaborate trips to the Netherlands. Multiple trips have meant that besides visiting the four largest cities — Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht — I have also made my way through many little towns in the country that aren’t as touristy yet are some of the most beautiful.

Alkmaar, Almelo, Appeldoorn, Arnhem, Bloemendaal, Breda, Delft, Dordrecht, Gouda, Groningen, Haarlem, Leiden, Maarken, Nijmegen, Zaandvoort… it is a pretty long list, to be honest.

There are quite a few things about the Netherlands that I simply adore, and it is precisely this aspect that makes me visit this country again and again. It is by far the country that I have visited the most, so much so that every time I go now, I look for places I have yet to visit. It is…
