Goodbye Nadal, Welcome Alcaraz

Before we proceed to the historic Wimbledon Championships, let’s bid farewell to Roland Garros, and say Au revoir to Paris

There was something missing in the French Open 2025. It is the first time in two decades that the clay court major happened without its greatest champion ever featuring in the main draw. Rafael Nadal ended his remarkable career, which included, among other trophies, an incredible 14 titles at Roland Garros late last year.

The tournament in Paris featured an emotional adieu, though. Nadal’s biggest rivals, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray, were present at Court Philippe Chatrier for a farewell ceremony dedicated to the legendary Spaniard. That being said, Nadal being feted by the French tennis federation and attempting to win again are two different things.

While having a formal farewell ceremony is, no doubt, a great way to honor the greatest ever champion at the French Open, there is absolutely no doubt as regards the fact that Rafa Nadal will be missed in Paris. The good thing is, his footprint will always be there.

Okay, now let’s make an assessment of the two weeks that have ensured a new champion in the women’s category.
