Beautifully narrated Caterina.
It is not just Rome, but the entire Italy.
It could may well be the best country in the world. Italy has everything going for it. Unfortunately, it has resulted in apathy and complacency.
Instead of nation-building, the focus has been on trivial pursuits. Instead of building on assets, the focus is more to make everything a liability. I'm sorry to say but they almost sold the country to China.
Maybe it has got to do with history, the 'Real Rome' - whose gradual decline ensured the world a lot of things that it could be better off without. Had the 'Real Rome' focused on absolute responsibility, that accompanies absolute power, the world would be much better place today. But...
I don't know. I mean, I love Italy. I really do, everything about it. But I simply can't turn a blind eye to everything that is fundamentally wrong with the system.
Thank you for such a beautiful narrative.
