Novak Djokovic has made sure that 2024 will always remain a year to remember in the mind of tennis aficionados. By winning the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris, the Serb became the first man to win all Big Titles in the men’s singles category.
His 7–6(3), 7–6(2) win over Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the final at the iconic Roland Garros also meant Djokovic completed the Career Golden Slam — a rare feat of winning all four major titles and the Olympic gold medal, becoming the third man to do so, after Andre Agassi and longtime rival Rafael Nadal.
The triumph in Paris also ensured the Serb a Career Super Slam — the combination of the Golden Slam and year-end ATP Finals title, making him only the second man to achieve the feat (after Agassi). Besides, Djokovic’s gold medal effort puts to rest a long-running debate about the best player of all time. Statistically, Djokovic is the only player to have won it all.
